I know a lot of people take this time of the year to vow to work out every day, or change their diet, or do something else that requires strong self-discipline. In a way, my resolution requires the same thing – but nobody will see the effects of it except for myself and a few individuals very close to me.

My resolution is to stop feeling so damned guilty all the time.

In a typical week, I will feel guilty for:

  • Eating too much.
  • Not eating enough.
  • Eating unhealthy foods.
  • Not eating specific healthy foods.
  • Spending money.
  • Going to university instead of working and making money.
  • Not working out.
  • Taking pain killers.
  • Staying home when I don’t feel well.
  • Sleeping too late when I’m exhausted.

…and it goes on and on and on. It’s ridiculous, and it’s frankly exhausting beating myself up and nagging myself so often! Because of this, I’m going to take it easier on myself, and start doing what I need when I need it, and not worry about whether it’s “okay” to do it.

What is your resolution this year?

  1. That’s a great goal to have. I think it would be a great thing to accomplish this year. You shouldn’t feel guilty pretty much ever! Have a wonderful, guilt free year!

    • Thanks, Caity! As much as I know guilt is a useless emotion (most of the time, anyway), it’s hard to avoid when you’re used to feeling it all the time. Hope you have a fantastic start to (and rest of!) 2014!
